A sunny start to spring in New Brunswick

Winter might be overstaying its welcome on this first day of spring for our neighbours in Nova Scotia, but New Brunswick has been spared the nasty weather that moved in on Sunday.

“Snow and blowing snow began late in the afternoon across mainland Nova Scotia,” said Brennan Allen, a CBC meteorologist.

“Luckily Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick avoided most of this precipitation and was spared the worst.”

There are delays and cancellations in Nova Scotia, including the Halifax Stanfield International Airport with freezing rain and ice pellets expected to turn to light rain or freezing rain in Nova Scotia and eastern Prince Edward Island, possibly making for dangerous driving conditions.

In New Brunswick a mix of sun and cloud is expected for both Monday and Tuesday with temperatures in the low single digits.

“Looking ahead to the mid-week, a cold front will push through the region Tuesday night into Wednesday ushering in winter-like weather with a few flurries and temperatures into the negative single digits for daytime highs,” Allen said.
